About Us

The Grampians New Energy Taskforce (GNET) was formed to represent, lead and advocate for the development of a zero-carbon economy in the Grampians region.

GNET includes senior representatives of all 11 Grampians Local Government Areas, the Central Highlands and Wimmera Southern Mallee Regional Partnerships, RDA Grampians, Wimmera Southern Mallee Development, Committee for Ballarat and the Clean Energy Council.

The Victorian Government’s Department of Energy, Environment & Climate Action (DEECA) is providing the secretariat role for the GNET working group.

 

Our Objectives

The Taskforce will have succeeded if:

+  The Taskforce has been able to accelerate the development & implementation of low carbon projects/policies.

+  Benefits of the extensive renewable energy generation in the region are maximised and are being shared by its communities, and are strategically planned to deliver the greatest collective impact.

+  Existing industries are strengthened and new industries have been attracted to the region due to the accessibility of secure, affordable and renewable energy.

+  All tiers of government & the private sector are confident investing in the Grampians Region & see the benefit of streamlined planning & other approval processes, access to an effective supply chain & skilled workforce.

+  The Taskforce has demonstrated exemplary regional leadership and built the capability to enable the region to successfully respond to new and emerging challenges.
